Welp, everything that we talked about in the pre-Spain meetings
that could go wrong has gone wrong.
Plane delays, lost baggage, crazy Spain family, and now pick pocketed.
Gypsies stole my wallet with my license, student id, $200, and my debit card.
(Dad cancelled my card, thankfully)
All while a police man watched.
He came up to me as I was frantically searching my bag.
Told me in plain English what had happened.
He saw three gypsy kids take my wallet straight out of my bag.
When I asked him why he didn't stop them, he said that it wasn't his problem.
Welcome to Madrid.
After many tears and much frustration I have come to the conclusion that
You just have to take it as it is.
I know the One who is in control and thats all that matters.
Es la vida.
On the bright side, I got some good pictures:

So sorry mary... but hey... at least they didn't get your passport or your camera!
that's right.
i would search all of madrid if they had my camera.
haha.
Mary! So glad to see fun pics. Sorry about your wallet...my camera was stolen at the end of my trip. So my advice is to put any pics you have onto someones computer or save them somehow. The pickpocketing can happen to anyone. But don't let it get you down. Take care and be safe! I'm enjoying your posts and miss Spain so much! Make sure you check out the Rastro one weekend. And there is a parque del attraciones that is worth the visit
Meg .
Mary-
I am so sorry that your wallet got stolen and all the hassle that is involved, but thankful that you are okay otherwise.
Your pics are great and your attitude is even better!!! Love my Mary who can always find the bright side!
Have fun! Know that you are missed!! And can't wait until a year from today when you will "officially" be my daughter!!!
Love you!!!
Sorry to hear about your pick-pocket situation. When I was in Europe, I was the ultimate tourist with all of my personal belongings in a zipper pouch (I wore it around my neck...sort of like a zipping wallet on a landyard), so I would know if someone was trying to steal anything. I am really enjoying reading your blogs, but they makes me miss Europe soooo much. Eat some gelato (two scoops) for me! Looking forward to more adventures ! Stay safe. :]
