As many of you know, I am studying abroad in Spain for 5 weeks with Samford.
I am going to try to and update every once and a while to keep up with all that I get to do.
We will be in Madrid for four weeks studying at a school and touring the city.
My roommate for five weeks is Ashley Collins.
She is wonderful and so glad that she was willing to put up with me.
Ashley and I live with our Spanish madre, Pilar.
The last week we will tour the Southern Coast. No school. Just touring cities and going to the beach.
Well, with many flight delays, panic attacks, and much frustration with Delta, I arrived 36 hours after I began my trip to Spain. It was horrible.
But that which doesn't kill you, only makes you stronger. Haha.
When I arrived in Spain, I had no clothes. For 2 more days.
I was in the same clothes for 4 days. DISGUSTING.
I finally got my bag and am now, thankfully, in clean clothes.
After taking a nap, our group went on a bus tour of Madrid.
We passed everything: the palace, the amazing parks and architecture, museums Plaza Mayor, and Real Madrid stadium.
It was a lot of fun. Our professors from Samford then took us to a Baptist church for the evening service.
Bad idea. It was all in Spanish and we were too tired to try and translate.
Everyone was nodding off. Even the professors. :)
Then, they took us all out to dinner for tapas, a traditional Spanish meal.
We had tortillas. But these are not like the tortilla that we have at home.
Oh no, they are WAY BETTER.
It was like an omelet, bur different. It had egg, cheese, churiso, onions, and potatoes.
SO GOOD.
The next day (Monday), was our first day at school.
I am taking a grammar class and a Spanish literature class.
They were both great. The lit class will be fun because we get to go see plays and then write papers on them in Spanish. Let me rephrase that: The plays will be fun, the papers will not be fun.
Today we went to Retiro Park after school. We had a picnic and soaked in the sun near the lake.
It was wonderful. But of course, I got sunburned.
So sunscreen is need for tomorrow.
It was so relaxing and made homework more fun.
We then shopped around and stopped at a bakery for a snack.
Living on Spanish time and soaking up Madrid.
Here are some pictures from today:
Hasta Tarde!

Praying that you have an amazing experience in Spain - I think you are going to adore Madrid!
The Almudena Cathedral (next to Palacio Real)& Plaza Mayor were two of my favorites! :)
